Elizabeth K Newman is a Senior Associate of the law firm of Mahoney & Mahoney. Ms. Newman concentrates her practice in the areas of employment, labor, and discrimination law, primarily representing Federal employees, managers, senior executives, contractors and Federal sector labor unions in employment and labor law counseling, litigation, mediation, and arbitration. Ms. Newman's practice frequently involves litigation before such administrative agencies as the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA), and the Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals (DOHA). Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Newman worked as staff counsel at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) where she advised the Board Members on matters involving unfair labor practices, collective bargaining, and union elections. Ms. Newman earned her law degree (J.D.) in 2004 from the Washington College of Law at American University. In law school, she worked as a student attorney in the law school's Women and the Law Clinic representing clients in child neglect cases. She received her undergraduate degree (B.A. English and History) from Washington and Jefferson College in 2000, graduating cum laude. Ms. Newman developed her interest in employment law as a legal intern at the Department of Labor and at the NLRB. She has also written case summaries for the textbook "Compensatory Damages and Other Remedies in Federal Sector Employment Discrimination Cases." Ms. Newman is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She is in the process of applying for admission to the D.C. Bar. In the meantime, Ms. Newman is providing legal services to members of the public solely before departments and agencies of the United States. See D.C. App. R. 49(c)(2).
