Kathleen Kibler Mahoney is a Founding Partner of Mahoney & Mahoney. Ms. Mahoney serves as the firm's Managing Partner. In 1993 Ms. Mahoney founded the Law Office of Kathleen Kibler Mahoney, predecessor of the current law firm of Mahoney & Mahoney, LLP. She has litigated on behalf of the firms clients before both MD & D.C. trial courts and the D.C. Court of Appeals. She has additionally handled appeals before the U.S. Court of Veteran's Appeals. Ms. Mahoney has taught and lectured regarding the rights and responsibilities of litigants in both Maryland and the District of Columbia. Ms. Mahoney was a member of the Fee Arbitration Committee in Montgomery County, Maryland where she arbitrated and litigated fee disputes between attorneys and their clients. Due to her experience on that Committee, it's most important to Ms. Mahoney that Mahoney & Mahoney, LLP, charge its clients reduced hourly rates that are below the market rates charged by attorneys with comparable skills, in order to further the firm's non-economic goals of assuring legal representation for individuals attempting to enforce individual, civil, and Constitutional rights. Additionally, Ms Mahoney has testified before the Maryland Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee regarding women in business. She was also a member of the American Civil Liberties Union's (A.C.L.U.) Death Penalty Think-Tank in Baltimore, MD. During law school, she worked with both the U.S. Attorney's Office and the Maryland State's Attorney's Office. She also helped research and edit the book, BEYOND CIVIL RIGHTS: CHURCH, STATE AND COMMUNITY IN BLACK BALTIMORE. Ms. (Kibler) Mahoney was listed in Who's Who: American Law Students, and was the recipient of both the Columbus School of Law Dean's Appreciation Award and Delta Theta Phi's Outstanding Regional Law Student Award. Ms. Mahoney is a current member and past Vice-President of Women Business Owners of Montgomery County, and past President of the Friends of Olney Theatre, in addition to her other volunteer work. She is a member of the bars of Maryland and District of Columbia, U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Court of Veterans Appeals. Ms. Mahoney received her undergraduate degree (B.A.) from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1990, and her law degree (J.D.) from Catholic University School of Law in Washington D.C. in 1993.
